Clean Skincare — Nature’s Gift,
Crafted with
Care in Ghana

About Obaa Essentials

A woman-led skincare brand from Ghana, creating clean, nature-based beauty inspired by Africa’s roots.

From shea butter to sustainable skincare — learn how Obaa Essentials empowers women, promotes clean beauty, and crafts gentle care for every skin type.

The Story Behind Obaa Essentials

Obaa Essentials was born out of a mother’s love and a simple need for gentle, effective skincare. After the birth of my son in 2015, I struggled to find products suitable for his delicate skin. Following a dermatologist’s advice, I turned to plant-based skincare — and the results were remarkable.

Seeing my son’s skin heal and thrive through the power of natural ingredients inspired me to share this solution with others. What began with sourcing raw shea butter from Northern Ghana has blossomed into a woman-led skincare brand dedicated to clean, sustainable, and inclusive beauty.

Today, Obaa Essentials creates natural skincare made with pure shea butter and nutrient-rich African oils — products that nurture sensitive skin while empowering the women who help bring them to life.

From Shea Butter Roots to Sustainable Skincare

From our humble beginnings in sourcing raw shea butter, Obaa Essentials has grown into a trusted natural skincare brand dedicated to clean, effective, and nourishing formulations.

Our products are crafted without parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, or sulphates — ensuring gentle care for even the most sensitive skin. Guided by our love for nature and community, we blend traditional African ingredients with modern science to create skincare that truly cares.

Empowering Women in the Shea Value Chain

At the heart of Obaa Essentials is our commitment to people and purpose. We source our authentic shea butter directly from women’s cooperatives in Northern Ghana, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term community development.

This approach aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 2, and 5 — reducing poverty, promoting food security, and achieving gender equality.

Together, We Make an Impact

Every purchase you make supports sustainable livelihoods and environmental care.
With Obaa Essentials, you’re not just choosing skincare — you’re choosing a movement for clean beauty, community empowerment, and conscious living.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Obaa Essentials, sustainability is not just a practice — it’s our purpose. From the women who handcraft our raw shea butter to the eco-friendly packaging we choose, every decision we make honors people, planet, and progress.

Empowering Women in Shea Communities

We believe that true beauty uplifts. Our shea butter is sourced directly from women’s cooperatives in Northern Ghana, where we partner to ensure fair wages, safe working environments, and community growth.
By valuing their expertise and craftsmanship, we create a positive cycle of empowerment that strengthens families and preserves tradition.

Our Mission — Skincare That Heals and Inspires

Our mission goes beyond beauty. We exist to provide relief for sensitive skin, restore confidence, and inspire stories of healing through every product we make. Each jar, bottle, and bar represents a connection between nature, heritage, and hope.

Crafted with care;
inspired by nature

From our humble beginnings of sourcing raw shea butter, we have evolved into creating a range of natural skincare products. Our formulations are free from parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, and sulphates, ensuring the health and well-being of our customers. Our mission extends beyond profit; it’s about providing relief, restoring confidence, and inspiring stories of healing every day.

We have evolved from just being a family and friends supplier to a full time skincare business after learning how to formulate effective skincare backed by science using indigenous ingredients sourced right here in Ghana.

Proudly woman-led!

The word “Obaa” means “woman” in Akan, a widely spoken Ghanaian language. It celebrates the strength, grace, and essential role of women in society. Our brand is proudly woman-led and women-focused, with 95% of our employees being women.

Our logo features an Adinkra symbol representing pepper, signifying that not all peppers ripen at the same time. This conveys the idea of growth at one’s own pace and supporting those who need help along the way. This principle drives our mission to empower women in the shea industry, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and uplift their communities.

People, Planet, Profits
The Heart of Obaa Essentials

At Obaa Essentials, we believe in beauty with a purpose. Our business is built on three pillars:

People:
Over 95% of our workforce are women, earning fair wages with training to thrive.

Planet:
We prioritize sustainable sourcing and eco-friendly packaging to reduce waste.

Profits:
We reinvest profits in women’s empowerment programs, especially in the Shea industry.

Our Impact: Empowering Women, Sustaining Nature

At Obaa Essentials, our mission goes beyond skincare — it’s about creating real impact in communities and for the planet.

Empowering Women in Shea Communities
We partner with women who produce shea butter across Ghana, training them in soap making and other value-added crafts. This provides alternative income during the off-harvest season and supports sustainable livelihoods for families.

Promoting Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Beauty
We advocate for green, eco-conscious business practices — from ethical ingredient sourcing to sustainable packaging — helping to protect our environment while promoting responsible beauty.

Every Purchase Makes a Difference
When you choose Obaa Essentials, you’re not just caring for your skin — you’re supporting a woman, a family, and a brighter, sustainable future.

I never really liked shea butter until I started using these products. To say they are good is an understatement, they are the best and most reasonably priced shea butter products on the market. My skin has noticeably improved since I started using her products and they are perfect for winter.

My daughters skin has been a hot mess since infancy because of eczema. We’ve tried everything and we were managing at best. Then I decided to try Obaa’s honey, milk and oats soap. For the first time in her 2 year life we went a full month without any eczema flares
